Squidoo is a web application enabling users to make ‘lenses’, i.e. focal points of the best resources on the internet on a subject.
A lens is a single page mini-website, constructed that contains a number of modules. A module can be a text block, an rss feed, a list of links, a list of Amazon books, … Users can vote on list items, allowing lensmasters to build top lists using collective intelligence.
Lenses can have many applications. For example, if you have a complex web presence, spread over many sites, you can use a lens as a focal point to link to your linkedin profile, your blog, your website, your del.icio.us bookmarks, etc.
Lenses can be grouped, and the same modules available for lenses are available to groups.
There are hundreds of lenses on marketing. A few examples:
- Ultimate Marketing Group: 1600 lenses and counting
- Write a Powerful Article: the number 3 lens in the category business
- Feed Pitstop: even seasoned bloggers will learn a trick or two
